It was an exciting day last Tuesday as schools from around our region sent teams to take part in the second annual Hill End Public School STEM Challenge.
With a focus on the future the theme for the day was ‘Space’ with a series of engaging tasks for teams to complete.
A huge thank you to our three very special guest judges for the day. They included Mr Matt Burns from the NP&WS, Mr Shanahan from Pure Alumina Ltd and of course a very special thanks to our CSRIO Scientist in Schools friend, Christina Maher who travelled all the way from Sydney to be a part of the event.
The team from RocketLab sent us a message to inspire and encourage the students.
“Best of luck and go hard during the STEM Challenge this year. It is students like you, who are passionate and eager to learn about science and technology and use both to help the world be better, we hope will come and work with us one day in the space industry. Who knows what space exploration in the next few decades will look like, but we always find inspiration in your eagerness and creative ideas to continue to delve deeper and explore further.”
Special congratulations to the Hill End Public School STEM team of Claire, Charlotte, Beth,
Bryton and Toby. Our team worked amazingly together, had a great time and won the runner up trophy. Well done boys and girls.
