Based on our space and engineering themed studies throughout the year, our 2019 Sydney excursion over the past four days has been a great success. Travelling down to Sydney last Sunday our school met up with the students and staff from Glen Alice Public School on Monday to experience a wonderful and diverse range of learning experiences.
At ‘The Big Dig’ we learnt about the amazing history of the Rocks, from early Aboriginal settlement through to convict life and European settlers arrival in Australia.
We explored incredible engineered structures including the Sydney Harbour Bridge and the Sky Tower. We travelled back in time to learn about Australia’s incredible maritime history at the Australian Maritime Museum. We then explored the history and future of space travel at the Powerhouse Museum.
We travelled on trains, buses and ferries to explore the city and it was, quite simply, an incredible experience for our students. Sydney was the perfect location to enrich and consolidate learning that has been taking place at school over the past year.
